For the 9th edition of Rencontres 7e Art Lausanne, which will take place from March 5 to 15, 2026, under the theme of HOPE, we are honored to welcome Marin Karmitz as our guest of honor and to present him with an Honorary Award. Producer, distributor, and founder of MK2, he has worked with the greatest contemporary filmmakers and championed a free, accessible, and deeply rooted auteur cinema.
Initially a director, he then turned to production and distribution, dedicating his life to the service of creativity. His work with Kieslowski, Chabrol, Kiarostami, and Wenders reflects a demanding vision that has shaped the European cinematic landscape. (The MK2 movie theaters he founded have become places of thought, transmission, and sharing.)

Welcoming Marin Karmitz to an edition focused on hope is particularly meaningful, as his career embodies the idea of cinema that questions the world and keeps the channels of imagination open. His presence in Lausanne invites us to explore what creation, resistance, and transmission mean today, and highlights the importance of meetings, masterclasses, and screenings that foster dialogue between artists and audiences.
