Cinema has always had that spark: a unique ability to capture the fractures in our societies and, in the darkness of the theatre, shed light on what still connects us. In cinema, hope slips into a gesture, a glance, sometimes into silence. It gives stories a resonance that reminds viewers that even in the midst of tragedy, something can still be reborn.

This new edition invites audiences to revisit works that have elevated hope to the status of a narrative driving force. Stories of resistance and rebirth. Characters who learn to dream again. The perspectives of filmmakers who, from Méliès to contemporary directors, have never ceased to project a possible future onto our screens

For ten days, Lausanne will become a platform for exchange, bringing together screenings, masterclasses and encounters with those who shape our imaginations. A space where we question the world and remind ourselves that the 7th art continues to accompany our individual and collective hopes. In 2026, Les Rencontres 7e Art Lausanne celebrates the power of cinema as a refuge, a compass and a source of inspiration.
