While this homage to B-grade sci-fi and schlock horror productions from Universal and Hammer is retro due to its ultra-referential dimension, it is also undeniably in tune with the anti-establishment spirit of its time.

The film reflects a yearning for freedom and a fierce opposition to traditional values. It is a political statement that is as topical as ever, with its questioning of gender norms and its series of resolutely queer protagonists.
