In the small Norman town of Cherbourg, Geneviève, a young umbrella saleswoman, and Guy, a mechanic, share a deep and passionate love despite their youth and social differences. Their love is tested when Guy is called up to fight in the Algerian War. They vow to remain faithful and dream of a future together, but Guy's absence, dwindling letters, and social pressures push Geneviève to make heartbreaking choices. Urged by her mother, she marries Roland, a kind-hearted jeweler, though her heart belongs elsewhere. Time passes, and the former lovers are reunited, their lives shaped by their choices and the passage of years. The Odorama: A Cinematographic and Olfactory Journey
This year, LUZI, the Swiss perfume house renowned for its expertise, is joining forces with the 8ᵉ edition of the Rencontres 7e Art Lausanne and NEZ, the olfactory magazine. Under the theme LOVE, they are creating a unique cinematic experience-thanks to perfume.
With the Odorama, perfume and cinema merge to bring a new dimension to the 1964 masterpiece The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. LUZI perfumers Sidonie Grandperret and Marc Daniel Heimgartner designed six exclusive fragrances, each capturing the atmosphere and emotions of key scenes from the film. Jeanne Bichet played a key role in linking the worlds of perfume and cinema, bringing this sensory experience to life.
During the screening, numbers will appear on the screen, corresponding to the numbered fragrance cards in a booklet. When you see a number on the screen, take the corresponding card, inhale and immerse yourself in the moment.
