Josiane Balasko is a French actress, director and screenwriter born in 1950. An emblematic member of Le Splendid, she made her name with cult comedies such as Les Bronzés (1978) and Le Père Noël est une ordure (1982). She went on to make a name for herself in a broader register, mixing humour and drama, notably in Bertrand Blier's Trop belle pour toi (1989), which won her the César for Best Actress. A committed director, her films include Gazon maudit (1995), which won the César for Best Screenplay.
