Opening ceremony

We will have the pleasure of (re)discovering an absolute masterpiece on the big screen: The Gold Rush (1925) by the great Charlie Chaplin, in a restored 4K version.

PROGRAMM
7pm: Ceremony and presentation of the Honorary Award to Marin Karmitz
8pm: Film screening

Released in 1925, did you know that this masterpiece was re-edited by Chaplin himself in 1942 with synchronised music and narration, using the original negative? Chaplin himself ensured that all existing copies from 1925 were withdrawn from circulation.

To celebrate the film's centenary in 2025, a new global search has been launched to find the original material in its full 1925 format. This restoration now offers the opportunity to rediscover Chaplin's masterpiece in a version even closer to its original 1925 form, with its intertitles and missing scenes, and to be carried away by the timeless comedy and quest for excellence of the little man with the cane.

A tribute to a work that continues to embody cinema's unique ability to represent human resilience and create intercultural and intergenerational bonds. This inaugural screening is just a taste of the cinematic interlude that awaits you. A rich programme, including revisited classics and little-known gems, is being put together for you.
